In 1964, the United States launched a War on Poverty and Action for a Better Community was established. Fifty years later, our community is rich in data, philanthropy, volunteer efforts and services, but structural barriers remain. ABC’s poverty symposium focussed on these structural barriers, with keynote address from nationally acclaimed journalist David Cay Johnston and three concurrent discussions about our economic, education and criminal justice systems.
